EIC Activities' Michael Vinod was awarded first place in the Annual NSW Research Award competition held by the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS).
The prestigious award is for outstanding research in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology in the Sydney and Newcastle chapters of the AGS.
Michael presented on his PhD topic of ‘Optimising landfill settlement prediction to cater for transport infrastructure loads’.
This PhD was a joint collaboration between EIC Activities and the UTS as part of one its many innovation projects.
The finalists were selected from nominations from NSW Universities, where the assessments were based on both written submissions and oral presentations.
The judging panel of five (three from academia and two industry experts) considered the candidates based on the technical content, originality, industry relevance, clarity of written submission and verbal communication of their research.
