One of the key tools that EIC Activities has been using to deliver our innovative and sustainable solutions for complex infrastructure projects is Leapfrog Works. Part of Seequent, The Bentley Subsurface Company portfolio, Leapfrog Works is a powerful 3D ground modelling software that allows for accurate and detailed representations of subsurface environments.

Chosen by our ground engineering experts as the best solution for the job, Leapfrog 3D ground modelling software allows us to deliver better outcomes for our clients by providing more accurate and detailed information about the subsurface conditions.

By using Leapfrog, EIC has been able to optimise design, identify and mitigate risks, reduce construction costs and time, and minimise the impact on the environment.

Leapfrog is utilised by EIC during tender and delivery stages of projects to model the geological environment of sites, which includes complex geological structures and highly variable soil and rock conditions.

The 3D models generated by EIC allows us to accurately and rapidly perform geotechnical interpretation based on factual geotechnical data which enables more efficient construction planning to avoid surprises on site during construction.

Figure 1: Ground models are based on geological data such as borehole logs, surface mapping, and geophysical surveys, ensuring that we have a comprehensive understanding of their subsurface environment. Tunnel alignments and design surfaces can be directly imported into Leapfrog to get a better understanding of the site conditions.
In addition to subsurface interpretation and ground profiles which are used in design analysis, 3D geological model outputs from Leapfrog can also be used for estimating earthwork volumes, planning construction methodologies, planning, and scoping of additional site investigation and other earthwork related assessments.

With collaboration functionality, we can work more effectively with internal and external parties, reducing project timelines and costs.

Leapfrog connects to Seequent’s cloud-based platform Central, which allows multiple users to work collaboratively on the same project, enhancing communication and accelerating decision-making.

Leapfrog can also seamlessly integrate with Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, providing an end-to-end solution for our clients.

Figure 3: Leapfrog assists the project team to perform detailed risk analysis, including identifying geotechnical hazards such as slope stability. This allows us and our clients to make informed decisions and mitigate risk.

In addition to our 3D geomodelling capabilities, EIC has also been using a range of other cutting-edge technologies to deliver innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions.

These capabilities include GIS mapping tools, 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and automation tools.
